Experimental practice alpha — terms of use

What this is
virtualreality.education ("the service", "we") offers an experimental practice simulation that runs on our servers and streams video to your browser. It is an early-access engineering alpha. It is provided so that adults can try a bounded practice task and so that we can measure whether the service works. It is not a course, a qualification, a certification, an assessment, a statement of occupational readiness, or a substitute for supervised training on real equipment.
Who may use it
You must be at least 18 years old and legally able to agree to these terms. If you use the service on behalf of an organization, you confirm that the organization has authorized you to do so. We do not admit learners under 18 in this alpha, and we do not infer your age from your email address or institution; you assert it when you accept these terms, and an untrue assertion is a breach of these terms.
Acceptance
You accept these terms and the privacy notice by recording an explicit acceptance of their exact version identifiers before you start a practice session or submit a request. If either document changes, you will be asked to read and accept the new version before starting another session or submitting another request. Existing records and cancellation remain available to you without re-acceptance.
Experimental scope and no warranty
The service, its content, its feedback and its practice summaries are experimental and may be incomplete, inaccurate or unavailable. Feedback shown during or after a session is an advisory description of what the simulation observed; it is not a grade, a score, a competence judgement, or a professional review. Internal model-based and automated reviews are engineering checks, not professional endorsements. To the fullest extent permitted by law the service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, and we do not warrant that practising in the simulation improves real-world performance or safety.
Safety on real equipment
The simulation includes deliberately unsafe states so that you can recognise and recover from them. Nothing in it replaces the safety rules, personal protective equipment, supervision and training required for real tools and workplaces. Do not rely on the simulation to decide that a real action is safe.
Your conduct
Do not attempt to access sessions, records or requests that are not yours; interfere with the service, other users or the streaming infrastructure; submit content that is unlawful, abusive or that you do not have the right to submit; or use automated tools to submit requests or start sessions except as we explicitly permit for testing. We may refuse, limit, suspend or end access at any time, including to protect capacity, safety or other users.
Capacity and availability
Capacity is deliberately limited. Sessions have fixed time limits, queues are finite, and a session may be cancelled, expire or fail because of infrastructure limits. We publish the tested limitations of the service and do not promise uptime, a start time, or that a request for a new experience will be built.
Requests for new experiences
A request you submit describes a practice task you would like to see. Submitting a request creates a durable record and a receipt; it does not create an obligation for us to build anything, a delivery date, or a contract. Requests we cannot support are recorded as unsupported with the reason. Test requests must be marked as tests and are excluded from our demand measurements.
Fees
This alpha does not charge fees. Any paid offering will be described in separate written terms and an authorized purchase; nothing in this alpha creates a paid entitlement.
Intellectual property
The service, its software, content and design belong to us or our licensors. You receive a limited, revocable, non-transferable permission to use the service for its intended purpose during the alpha. Your practice records belong to you as data about your own actions; you grant us the permission described in the privacy notice to store, process, export and delete them for you and to use de-identified operational measurements to improve the service.
Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential loss, or for loss arising from reliance on the simulation or its feedback. Where liability cannot be excluded, it is limited to the amount you paid for the service in the twelve months before the claim, which for this free alpha is zero. Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot be excluded by law.
Changes and ending
We may change these terms by publishing a new version identifier. Continued admission requires accepting the current version. We may end the alpha at any time; if we do, your records remain available for export and deletion for the retention period stated in the privacy notice.
Governing law and contact
These terms are governed by the law of the operator's place of establishment unless mandatory law where you live provides otherwise. Questions, complaints and requests about these terms should be submitted through the request form on the site, choosing the "question about terms or privacy" option; the receipt page shows the status of your request.
